OUR STORY / IN TIM’S WORDS
IT STARTED IN A GARAGE.
IT BECAME FAMILY.
CRANK-IT-UP started about 20 years ago as a little garage fun. People began telling us, “You should play out!” So Jonathan Henderson—my cousin, but my brother in every way that mattered—and I decided to build something together.
We pooled our resources and put together our first sound system. As the gigs came in, we thought, “Let’s go bigger.” More equipment, more lights, karaoke—we decided to run with it. Over the years, we played weddings, birthday parties, reunions, and several bars. Eventually, we stepped away from the bar scene and focused on booked events.
Then tragedy struck. Jonathan passed away, and it felt like a part of me—and CRANK-IT-UP—went with him. Getting back behind the microphone without him was hard. We had built this together.
Years later, I was asked to announce at some local motocross races. That lit the spark I once had with CRANK-IT-UP and everything Jonathan and I had built. Slowly, I started buying equipment again. I thought, what better way to honor my brother than to build CRANK-IT-UP back up?
This time, I get to share it with my son, Connor. Having him by my side, doing what Jonathan and I envisioned, has been a blessing. With every event we do now, I know Jonathan is smiling down on us, saying… CRANK-IT-UP!!!!!
